At the end of the project, the consultant should have:
- Produced outreach materials to expand the work of the mandate on some strategic issues, supported the participation of the Independent Expert in events, and increased his engagement with the media;
- Designed and conducted an outreach campaign for the dissemination of the Independent Expert’s report on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, in relation to the human rights to freedom of expression, association and peaceful assembly, which will be presented at the 56th session of the Human Rights Council.
- Designed and conducted an outreach campaign for the dissemination of the Independent Expert’s report on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, in relation to electoral participation, which will be presented at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
- Designed an outreach strategy for the upcoming country visits of the Independent Expert in 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities
The purpose of the consultancy is to assist the mandate of the Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in designing and implementing a dissemination strategy aimed at increasing the visibility of the mandate's activities and outputs through social media, online meetings/webinars and promotional materials, and also to assist the mandate in producing substantive outputs that will feed into the outreach strategy of the mandate.
- Assist with the mandate's dissemination strategy aimed at increasing the visibility of the mandate's activities and outputs through social media, online meetings/webinars, and promotional material;
- More specifically, be responsible for designing and implementing outreach campaigns, adapting the key messages delivered in the outputs of the mandate (such as reports, press releases, and statements) to different communication channels, ensuring they are accessible and appealing to the audience, prepare two-pagers highlighting key findings and recommendations, and assist with the organization of online events;
- Conduct research and produce substantive content that will feed into the Independent Expert’s external outreach activities (e.g. keynote speeches, thematic statements, talking points for panel discussions, conferences, op-eds, interviews, web content, etc.);
- Liaise with content providers for illustrations, videos, or other multimedia outputs of the mandate, as appropriate;
- Manage the social media accounts of the IE SOGI; and
- Assist with the mandate's dissemination strategy aimed at increasing the visibility of the mandate's activities and outputs through social media, online meetings/webinars, and promotional material;

Qualifications/special skills
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communications, law, political science, international relations, social sciences or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
- At least six (6) years of progressible responsible experience in communications, human rights, political affairs, international relations, law or related areas is required. Expertise in the area of human rights, gender identity and sexual orientation is required.
- Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset.
