Background
UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
Established in 1996 by United Nations General Assembly resolution 50/166, the United Nations Trust Fund in Support of Actions to Eliminate Violence Against Women (UN Trust Fund) is the only global, multilateral grant-giving fund specialized in preventing and ending all forms of violence against women and girls. Human rights are at the core of its work, recognizing that “violence against women violated and impaired or nullified the enjoyment by women of human rights and fundamental freedoms”.
Under the supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, within the Monitoring, Evaluation and Knowledge Management team of the UN Trust Fund, which sits in UN Women’s Policy, Programme, Intergovernmental Division, the Advocacy, the M&E and Knowledge Management Intern will learn and contribute to monitoring, evaluation and knowledge management activities through summarizing evaluations and reports, assisting with content generation, support the team with planning for special projects and events, assisting with data analysis and presentations, and delivering other specific tasks as relevant to the team needs.
- Support the UN Trust Fund’s reporting and results sharing, including summarizing evaluations and reports;
- Assist with content generation for the UN Trust Fund’s Learning Hub, including drafting short blurbs, tagging, and uploading evaluations of UN Trust Fund-funded projects to the UN Trust Fund’s Learning Hub/Evaluation Library on its website;
- Assist with content generation for SHINE Hub, including summarizing global consultations;
- Support with planning for special projects and events, such as the Knowledge Brief Series, Small Grants Evaluations, and UN Trust Fund webinars; and
- Perform any other additional tasks required to support the monitoring and evaluation and knowledge management functions of the UN Trust Fund, such as support with data analysis and PowerPoint presentations.
Learning Objectives:
- Increased understanding of UN Women’s work and the UN system;
- Exposure to the projects, practices and events of the UN Trust Fund; and
- Increased understanding of monitoring and evaluation and knowledge management on ending violence against women and girls.
