  • Lead an internal team of GE champions and domain experts and support them to consistently translate program insights into impact for the foundation. You’ll ensure successful employee engagement, team building, communicate performance expectations, create goal alignment, integrate project and change management, give and seek feedback, provide coaching, measure progress and hold people accountable, support employee development, and recognize achievement and lessons learned.
  • Bring an impact-oriented focus on transformative change for the women and girls we wish to serve and their communities, mindful of the complex context in which their lives and livelihoods operate. Use strong programmatic evidence and data-centric portfolio decision-making.
  • Offer direct support and on-the ground experience to our Program Strategy Teams (PSTs) to build a shared understanding of program opportunities and challenges and align on goals for the portfolios and programs that operate in India. Be a valued thought partner for strategy design and execution in India and contribute in other regions as needed.
  • Build a strong relationship with in-country key collaborators including national and state government partners, private sector, philanthropic and other funders, other development agencies and most importantly with implementing partners/grantees.
  • Further develop, lead and implement PST and ICO strategy to accelerate progress for women and girls and create a strong eco-system of allies and partners both internally in the India office, among PSTs and with external partners and collaborators. Translate these strategies into concrete investment plans.
  • Lead the India investment portfolio of the various GE PSTs implementing in India and find opportunities to build strong collaborations across a complex matrix including Agricultural Development, Family Health and Inclusive Financial Systems, as they work in-country in service of women and girls. Ensure investments track to agreed-upon investment budgets, participate in leadership discussions and decision-making on prioritization and trade-offs, with all relevant PSTs and the India office.
  • Be a member of the leadership team of the relevant GE PSTs, the India Office Management Team, as well as in the leadership forum of our Gender Equality Division.

Your Experience
  • Master’s or higher degree in a relevant economic development area (rural livelihoods, development economics, public policy, sociology, gender studies or allied relevant field). and 12+ years of experience in program design, strategy execution in the area of development, with gender equality as a thematic area of interest.
  • Experience in leading a team of senior professionals in a mission-driven organization, preferably with some experience of working with government, private sector and philanthropic agencies in areas described above.
  • Ability to navigate complex network of partners both internally (across Seattle, Washington CS, London and Johannesburg) and externally
  • This role will require the ability to travel up to 40% domestically and internationally.
