The Brave Movement seeks a dedicated Advocacy Officer for the "No More Silence: Africa Fights Child Sexual Violence" 18 month project working across eight countries, focused on ending childhood sexual violence across East, West, and Southern Africa. This critical role involves developing and implementing advocacy strategies in collaboration with the Brave Movement Campaign Manager in Africa, fostering collaboration with survivor-led organizations, and actively engaging with the African Union to drive policy changes and interventions.

Position overview
The Advocacy Officer at the Brave Movement will play a pivotal role in driving national advocacy and campaigns for transformative change, with a focus on ending childhood sexual violence.
Reporting directly to the Brave Movement Campaign Manager in Africa, the Advocacy Officer will manage specific responsibilities, including coordination with external consultants. This is a 18 month position with the possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities and duties
- Assist in the implementation of advocacy strategies under the guidance of the Campaign Manager.
- Support efforts to influence national and regional policies related to childhood sexual violence.
- Collaborate with survivor-led organizations, experts, and allied groups to strengthen national and regional coordination efforts.
- Contribute to the development of key campaign messages and support the launch of bold and transformative campaigns at the national level.
- Support advocacy efforts to include survivor voices within the African Union and in key decision-making spaces.
- Contribute to efforts towards the African Union officially recognizing childhood sexual violence as a critical issue, pushing for effective interventions and policies.
- Assist in the facilitation of workshops and networking opportunities to empower survivors and allied organizations at national and sub-country levels.
- Manage logistics, planning, and administrative duties related to workshops, including but not limited to: Identifying suitable workshop locations, supporting survivor organizations with logistics, and arranging travel for participants to the workshops.
- Support grant management tasks, including but not limited to: Monitoring grant timelines and deliverables, collaborating with relevant stakeholders for successful grant implementation, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements and reporting.
- Conduct monitoring and evaluation activities, including support in the implementation of M&E frameworks, assist in tracking and assessing project outcomes and impact, and provide regular reports on project performance

Knowledge, skills and experience
Required
- Proven experience in developing and implementing advocacy strategies.
- Strong understanding of child protection issues and the dynamics of childhood sexual violence in Africa.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Verbal and written fluency in English.
Desired
- Experience working with survivors.
- Knowledge of the child protection sector.
- Additional languages, especially French, Spanish or Kiswahili.
