Leadership 
1.       Provide effective strategic oversight of Kaleidoscope Trust’s activities and resources, with the support of the Deputy Director and Senior Management Team.   
2.       To ensure that the charity’s values, ethos and policies are relevant, fair and consistently implemented. 
3.       Drive an organisation that is constantly seeking ways to learn and to improve its performance. 
  
Organisational Management   
1.       Provide accountability to the Board for the proper and transparent management of the charity. This would involve building a transparent and active relationship with the Chair and Board and communicating relevant insight at quarterly Board meetings and its subcommittees.  
2.       Report to the Board and its committees regularly on relevant activities, reviewing and adapting as political, regulatory and financial considerations evolve. 
3.       Ensure appropriate mechanisms for monitoring the performance of the charity and to report back to the trustees on its performance against its strategy. 
 
Financial Leadership 
1.       Provide overall responsibility for the financial health of the charity, including the overseeing and monitoring of an effective programme of income generation for its activities and overheads. 
2.       Work closely with senior managers and the treasurer in order to stay informed and abreast of financial forecasting and budget considerations so that both opportunities and risks may be identified in advance. 
3.       Work with senior managers and the fundraising and communications team to increase a more sustainable fundraising structure. 
 
Development and External Relations 
1.       Provide key oversight on Kaleidoscope Trust’s financial position through fundraising and development opportunities, with the aim of diversifying its income streams. 
2.       Work with the Development Manager to gain insights into the current fundraising landscape in order to identify opportunities for both long- and short-term funding streams (e.g. corporates, brands, institutions, trusts, foundations and major gifts). 
3.       Leverage existing networks of contacts and to develop new relationships, in order to unlock potential for sponsorships or mutually beneficial partnerships that both drive core income while raising Kaleidoscope Trust’s public profile. 
 
Network Building and Engagement 
1.       Represent Kaleidoscope Trust as a spokesperson who can communicate the charity’s mission with both heart and impact to a variety of different audiences. 
2.       Maintain effective links with the UK Government and other international actors both at the political and civil service level. 
3.       Sustain and advance Kaleidoscope Trust’s public profile and position as a leading actor on international LGBTI+ rights through engagement with the UK media.  
 
Person specification
We are looking for a candidate with relevant experience who can demonstrate the following: 
 
Essential 
●        A recognised and vocal champion of human rights, particularly LGBTI+ rights. 
●        Experience navigating political and diplomatic relationships with a knowledge of working within international contexts, particularly with either global majority and/or multiply marginalised communities. 
●        A commitment to working in a way that is informed by trans-inclusion, anti-racism, feminist, and anti-colonial perspectives. 
●        A persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal skills to represent Kaleidoscope Trust externally to diverse audiences.  
●        An ability to communicate in English, both clearly and with impact, at all levels.
