PSEA/ Safeguarding
Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI)
Responsibility 1: Safeguarding institutional capacity
- Lead CRCS wide Safeguarding self-assessment.
- Lead processes for and analysis of annual Safeguarding review of CRCS programs, in Canada and internationally.
- Lead development / adaptation of training resources and facilitation of training of CRCS personnel on Safeguarding.
Responsibility 2: Safeguarding mainstreaming into operations
- Support CRCS managers and directors to manage Safeguarding risks identified through self-assessment and annual reviews. This includes ensuring all programs have specific indicators on safeguarding, personnel complete relevant training, providing technical support, and developing tools, as needed.
- Work with Community Engagement and Accountability personnel to support people of diverse and marginalized backgrounds have effective ways to provide feedback on, participate in, and have communications about CRCS supported programming.
- Support CRCS operational managers to mainstream safeguarding into relevant trainings, tools, and standards, and operating procedures for programs implemented inside of Canada and internationally.
- Support operational managers to ensure the commitment, support, and cooperation of partner organisations, including National Societies, the IFRC, and ICRC, and other agencies it funds, and individuals who help to deliver programmes administered by the CRCS or represent the CRCS in any way.
- Provide technical support to People Services on implementation and systems related to the Child Safeguarding Policy (2023).
- Provide technical support to operations and Services for the integration of Safeguarding into Service guidelines, tools and jobs aids, new proposals and operations.
Responsibility 3: Learning and accountability on Safeguarding
- Support operational managers to include safeguarding in its monitoring based on each program’s specific indicators on safeguarding.
- Synthesize learning from across monitoring reports and suggest practical actions operations can take based on learning.
- Support Quality Management leadership to prepare reporting on Safeguarding for CRCS leadership.
- Work with relevant teams, such as Legal and Workplace Integrity and Investigations, to ensure effective processes to handle, respond to, and monitor safeguarding concerns within CRCS.
What we are looking for:
- Master’s Degree or advanced diploma relating to social sciences, public health, law, sociology, anthropology is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience working in a relevant field,
- Experience in the development of educational resources, curriculum, policies, and procedures is considered an asset.
- Experience as a facilitator / trainer.
- Strong knowledge and experience of minimum standards and tools for integrating safeguarding in emergency response and humanitarian action.
- Strong knowledge and experience of safeguarding in health and emergencies.
- Proven knowledge and experience in gender equality, emergency response and humanitarian action.
- Proven knowledge and experience in results-based management.
- Knowledge of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement and knowledge of the CRCS is a definite asset.
- Excellent oral and written skills in English required; fluency in French is desired.
- Strong leadership, team building, negotiating, influencing and relationship building skills.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills are required.
- Ability to solve complex problems.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service skills.
