Role Purpose:
This position will promote the operational safety and security of IPPF staff and volunteers, especially in high-risk contexts, based on existing policies, systems and infrastructure. This includes supporting the safety and security of the Secretariat, Humanitarian and Surge team members during travel and deployment to emergency settings. The role will support the Global Security Advisor on the overall security and safety of IPPF staff and volunteers given risks from (1) IPPF’s values and mission, (2) staff travel, (3) and the work of IPPF staff in high-risk settings.
Deliverables:
- Provide technical assistance and advice for the safe deployment of IPPF staff and volunteers (including Humanitarian and IPPF Surge Team members) to High-Risk settings via existing mechanisms for safety and security.
- Collaborate with Regional Offices on the creation of location security plans.
· Devoping pre-departure briefings for staff travelling to High-Risk locations.
· Advise Senior Management on the responses to safety and security incidents or near misses and ensure enhancements/amendments to mitigate future occurrence for High-Risk settings (including Humanitarian contexts).
· Design and deliver safety and security training and resources for staff.
- Provide advice and assistance to Member Associations to drive safety and security outcomes.
- Prepare regular updates and share information with Global Security Advisor and other stakeholders
- Adhere to the safeguarding reporting & monitoring requirements of this role.

Expertise:
· Current knowledge of best practices related to security risk management for non-governmental NGOs
· Experience working on safety and security for national and international NGOs/Organisations operating in multiple high to medium-risk countries/locations.
· Experience in training staff & volunteer on safety and security and supporting national/local organisations to build or strengthen their system.
· Demonstrated experience of working in fragile, conflict-affected and/or insecure environments.
· Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to safeguarding in a local & international context.
· Understand the risks associated with IPPF’s structure and profile and how these can be mitigated.
· Ability to work effectively within the context of a significant travel schedule.
Skills:
· Capacity and willingness to collaborate and be flexible in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
· Effective presentation and facilitation skills
· Strong verbal and written communication skills. Fluency in English, knowledge of French, Spanish, Arabic or other major international languages is preferred
· Results orientated - exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to work well and produce results across transnational environments with people from diverse backgrounds
· Good Project Management skills
· Able to work independently and be self-motivated in defining goals and objectives, while also working collaboratively in a team across disciplines and cultures
· Analytical skills – ability to look into complex situations and identify vulnerabilities.
