About the Department:

The Feminist Centre for Racial Justice (hereafter FCRJ) is one of several officially constituted research centres at SOAS, University of London. FCRJ, which is in the College of Law, Anthropology and Politics focuses on the majority world as geographies from which to build feminist imaginaries of “race”. The Centre brings together fields of enquiry that have developed in parallel: feminist theories on power, protests and change, studies of diasporas, critical race theories and migration studies. 

Purpose of the role
The role will vary in scope and scale but will include setting up and maintaining mechanisms for effective communication, project management, donor reports and accounting, contract development and management, contractual workflows with internal and external collaborators as well as supporting basic desktop research for projects and new initiatives.
 
Key Responsibilities
•      Manage, coordinate, and provide administrative support for all projects this includes but is not limited to drafting contracts, processing payments, and supporting project partners on all administrative matters.
•      Support public facing centre communication which includes managing our social media accounts, ensuring the website is up to date in collaboration with centre staff.
•      Provide basic research support as needed for project deliverables.
•      Assist in the preparation of project reports and documentation required by funders.
•      Coordinate logistics for project-related events this includes but is not limited to preparing logistics notes, working with partners to co-deliver international and local events, facilitating travel through ticket bookings and associated needs.
 
General
•      The post holder must carry out their responsibilities with due regard to the School’s Equality and Diversity policies.

•      The post holder must carry out their duties in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act
•      The post holder must abide by the requirements of the School’s IT policies.
 
Knowledge and Experience
•      Minimum of a master’s degree in social sciences
•      Demonstrable experience in project management
•      Research experience
 
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong planning and organisation skills, with a proven track record as an effective project manager including planning effectively, prioritizing work and meeting deadlines.
  • Basic project budget management skills including tracking expenses, payments, and balances.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team, with a flexible, co-operative attitude.
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft and Google products such as teams, word, google drive, excel. 
  • Proven experience of writing reports and briefing documents, including working with qualitative and quantitative data, identifying key messages and varying communication to fit the audience.
