Gender-based violence (GBV)
Management and supervision
  • Provide supportive supervision for direct reports.
  • Complete all CARE performance management activities including performance planning, monitoring, and annual performance appraisals.

Technical leadership and quality
  • Responsible for CARE USA and GJT’s leadership and coordination of global initiatives (eg; GBV sub-impact area in development and nexus settings).
  • Support confederation-wide achievement of the GBV vision and targets in the gender impact area strategy.

Strategic working relationships
  • Lead GJT’s coordination of global initiatives such as the GBV sub-impact area in development and nexus settings in collaboration with CARE USA or CI partners.
  • Co-lead the external Community of Practice (eg; Indashyikirwa) and organize related learning events.

Representation, networking and marketing of CARE products
  • Represent CARE in external fora including conferences, events, panel discussions, sector specific platforms or technical groups, etc. to share evidence-based learning and contribute to thought leadership around GBV, including its importance to gender transformative programming.
  • Development of podcasts as part of wider media and digital technology agenda (eg; Failing Forward) and hosting internal and external webinars.

Evidence based learning to inform strategic planning across 3 pillars (amplify, anticipate and deepen)
  • Co-lead CARE’s global GBV/ GBViE Community of Practice with CARE Egypt Foundation, and lead and other communities of practice focused on GBV programming for learning and sharing of good practice; incorporate this learning into the deepen model and learning and advocacy initiatives.
  • Input into the development of a learning agenda for the GJ team and wider CARE with specific learning questions related to GBV programming.

Advocacy
  • Identify and lead the global advocacy agenda for CARE USA related to GBV programming and the GJ teams efforts to scale its GBV programming in coordination with the Director Women’s Rights Advocacy for roll out and implementation in targeted country offices.
  • Co-lead CARE’s global campaigns for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence with CEF.

Resource mobilization
  • Provide technical input and guidance in the design of new programs (directly or through delegation of technical advisory support) and ensure appropriate levels of effort are budgeted for technical support by the GJ team during implementation.
  • Work with the Program Design and Resource Mobilization Director to identify new opportunities and support the packaging of products to attract funding with a specific focus on GBV programming.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of gender related development work.
  • Minimum of seven to ten years of related experience (combination of global experience with extensive regional experience).
  • Team management/ leadership experience and knowledge of good practice of designing and running teams with a complex multi country, multi -disciplinary agenda.
  • Experience and knowledge of designing and running gender related programs.
  • Expert in GBV programming, with significant experience in prevention, risk mitigation and response; social and gender norms transformation; engaging men and boys; and working with marginalized populations.
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills and ability to write in a collaborative process.
