Gender-based violence (GBV)
Key Objectives:
  • To evaluate and map SVRI’s broader impact, outlining how SVRI has made strategic shifts in the field since inception e.g. key activities/outputs/outcomes we have achieved that have been particularly impactful, and how; impact on evidence/knowledge; impact on careers; impact on networks; impact on further funding.
  • To outline the current ecosystem and key issues in the field of evidence building, as well as advocacy and capacity needs for VAW and VAC in LMICs.
  • To identify key gaps in the field.
  • To note key strategic areas SVRI should focus on to move the field forward.
  • To outline how through articulation of a clear Theory of Change.

In creating the new strategy, we would like the scope of work to include, but not be limited to the following:
  • Establish a SVRI Strategic Planning committee that includes members of the SVRI Leadership Council, Board and SVRI Team.
  • Undertake a series of virtual and online consultations with key stakeholders using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods. This could include:
    • A global SVRI members’ survey.
    • Series of 4-5 webinars / virtual consultations with stakeholders including e.g., SVRI team, SVRI Board, SVRI Leadership, Grantees, Forum partners and participants, early career researchers, activists, practitioners, funders, other networks, people with lived experiences, decision-makers, and policymakers.
    • Other online tools to enable / encourage SVRI membership to actively engage in the process.
  • Hold sharing and validation meetings with the SVRI Planning Committee and SVRI team.
  • Explore SVRI grant database and Forum presentations to map trends and outcomes to tell SVRIs impact story over time.
  • Draft the new strategy and framework.

Minimum Key Deliverables:
  • SVRIs New Strategic Plan – 2025-2030.
  • Products and communication materials for SVRIs Strategy and impact story.
  • Plan for launch at SVRI Forum 2024.

Timelines
The SVRI Strategic Plan must be finalised in time to launch at SVRI Forum 2024. The consultant/cy should thus deliver all final products along with a communications plan and products by 30 September 2024.


Who are we looking for?
The SVRI is approaching the end of the current Strategic Plan 2020-2024. This is an opportunity for a creative partner (a team or individual consultant) to join the Sexual Violence Research Initiative team, leadership, and network in the co-creation of an innovative new strategy for the SVRI, building on SVRIs Strategic Plan 2020-2024. We are looking for a consultant/cy partner who are excited by our work and vision and who see/s themselves mirrored in our principles, as described above.

What qualifications are necessary for this role?
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in organisational development, strategic planning.
  • Proven expertise in facilitation of consultative processes with diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to produce materials in different formats for different stakeholders.
  • Approach should be grounded in feminist values.
  • At least one member of the team with expertise and knowledge of the evidence ecosystem, the science of researching VAW and VAC, and the field more broadly.
