| 1. Purpose. The UN ESCAP Catalyzing Women’s Economic Entrepreneurship Programme funded by Global Affairs Canada aims to advance women entrepreneurship and market participation in the Asia-Pacific region. It focuses on six priority countries, namely Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, Nepal, Samoa, and Viet Nam. The Innovative Financing workstream undertakes its activities through partnerships aimed at leveraging public and private capital to pilot, test and scale financing models that support women entrepreneurs. In Q2 2024, ESCAP seeks to bring together the public and private sectors, civic leaders and academics to foster discussions around investing with a gender lens, feminist economics and financial inclusion, during the second edition of the Feminist Finance Forum, in order to establish meaningful actions to shape and change the landscape of the financing ecosystem for women in region. The contractor will contribute to the preparation, design, planning and implementation of the Feminist Finance Forum by contributing to event design and planning activities, outreach and partner communications, event implementation and post-event operations.
Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Master´s Degree in Event management, Economics, International relations, Gender studies, Business, or a related field. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree will be considered with 2 additional years of work experience.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in organizing events. Experience in designing and planning UN events, intergovernmental meetings, international conferences is desirable. Knowledge on gender equality, feminist principles, and finance is desirable. Demonstrated capacity to perform well under pressure and to successfully work against deadlines. Ability to work well in a team and independently. Experience working for the United Nations, or another international organization is an advantage. Experience working in the Asia Pacific region is an advantage.
Language: Excellent communication skills in English are required. Knowledge of Thai and/or any additional languages spoken in programme countries is an advantage.
