Gender equality and Social inclusion (GESI)
Duties and Responsibilities
Scope of Work: IREX will conduct a Gender and Social Inclusion Analysis to inform program activities across all four countries of implementation (Dominican Republic, Jordan, and Liberia). Therefore, IREX seeks consultant(s) (from Jordan, Liberia, and the Dominican Republic) to conduct research on the local context. The scope includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Provide substantive written feedback to the preliminary 3-page GESI Analysis conducted by the SHE’s GREAT! Team. Approx. 8 hours
- Conduct a supplementary desk review of local resources on gender equity and social inclusion to address specific data gaps identified in feedback provided on the preliminary desk review, and incorporate those edits into the master document. Approx. 8 hours
- In consultation with the Program Representative, refine the research lines of inquiry and develop qualitative data collection tools (e.g. Key Informant Interview questionnaire). Approx. 2 hours
- Based on the desk review and research lines of inquiry, identify experts from women-led or youth-serving CSOs, educators, government, and/or international bodies, and conduct at least ten 1-hour online or phone key informant interviews (KIIs) on gender and youth issues in the countries of implementation. In the case FGDs (see next bullet) may not be held due to safety concerns, the consultant may conduct up to 15 KIIs. Approx. 10-15 hours (direct preauthorized travel and communications expenses incurred to conduct KIIs will be reimbursed, see Article IV)
- Based on the desk review and KIIs, and in consultation with the Program Representative, determine the feasibility of convening target youth leaders of all genders, for online or phone focus group discussions (FGDs) on gender and youth issues in the countries of implementation. If feasible safely convene youth, identify target communities and target age cohorts, submit a research plan outlining data protections for youth participants (template will be provided), and conduct up to five 1-hour FGDs with diverse youth. Approx. 5 hours (direct pre-authorized travel and communications expenses incurred to conduct FGDs will be reimbursed, see Article IV)
- Transcribe KII and FGD discussions into English, analyze data, and integrate into the desk review to finalize the Findings section of the SHE’s GREAT! Gender analysis report Approx. 16-24 hours
- Based on the desk review and KIIs (and potentially FGDs), draft the Recommendations section of the gender analysis report to inform customization of SHE’s GREAT! approach to the Kyrgyz Republic. Approx. 8 hours
- Provide updates, written or verbal, to IREX as requested. Approx. 4-8 hours
