Aidsfonds, on behalf of the Love Alliance, is seeking a team of academics or research institution or consulting firm for conducting research on Research Question (1) the typology of community-led responses in the field of HIV/AIDS, and Research Question (2) the impacts of positive and negative legal determinants on community leadership and community-led responses.

The Love Alliance is an advocacy partnership formed by regional thought leaders GALZ, SANPUD and Sisonke, regional grantmakers UHAI EASHRI, ISDAO, ARASA, and the Global Network of People Living with HIV (GNP+) and Netherlands-based administrative lead Aidsfonds. The Love Alliance is based on an unwavering commitment to protecting, promoting and fulfilling sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) globally. The partnership occupies a critical space in promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, unifying people who use drugs (PWUD), sex workers and LGBTIQ+ movements, including people living with HIV and youth across them. The Love Alliance amplifies the diversity of voices in these communities and intends to act as a platform for sustainable change.

For this assignment, the Love Alliance expects the delivery of two complimentary pieces of research on the aforementioned two research tracks. The main objective of the research tracks, as detailed below, is to reflect the vast diversity of community-led responses within the priority areas of decriminalisation, changing social norms, and advocacy for policy change. For both tracks of research, the Love Alliance expects the consulting institution/team to incorporate a strong element of participatory action research that involves Love Alliance communities in actively conducting research and pursuing data collection. This research creates a strong framework for the assessment of community-led responses, both existing and those to come in the future, and will generate evidence for advocacy that can be utilised by our communities to push for legal and policy reform.
