Primary Responsibilities
•Represent the Task Force’s vision and mission to a wide range of audiences, including colleagues, appointed officials, elected policymakers, and local, state, and national activists, advocates and organizers;
•Expand and strengthen networks and collaborative relationships with LGBTQ+ and other progressive advocacy organizations;
•Develop the overall strategic plan, outcomes and goals of the Advocacy and Action department;
•Lead the development and supports the implementation of the Task Force public policy priorities;
•Responsible for the strategy, coordination and implementation of our c3 and c4 civic participation activities and initiatives
•Oversee and attend to all state and federal regulations compliance.
•Collaborate with colleagues to identify and address the unmet needs of LGBTQ communities and state/local organizations by advocating for federal funding and program initiatives;
•Participate and/or supervises the Task Force participation in key political coalitions addressing issues of concern to LGBTQ community;
•Participate in and supervise the development of written materials for funders, board, and staff as requested;
• Lead the strategic integration of the Task Force’s faith, field policy programs by creating and executing a 6-month, 1 year, and 3-year plan for integrating our campaigns, budgets, and staff time;
•Contribute to efforts to increase visibility of the National LGBTQ Task Force brand and provide leadership to the national movement;
• Manage staff members and their portfolios along with the administrative work that accompanies management (supervision, credit card reconciliation approval, time sheet approval and disciplinary procedures);
• Lead and collaborate where needed in the areas of budgeting, financial reporting, and development reporting to donors/foundations and other key stakeholders;
•Be a leader in our interactions with other national organizations and leaders of various movements (secular and faith based) regarding our faith, organizing and policy work;
•Serve as a spokesperson with the media related to faith, organizing and policy work;

Requirements
Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of applying the concepts of power, privilege and oppression and an intersectional analysis to strategy and tactics;
•Demonstrated ability to think and act in a politically strategic manner, and to develop both proactive and reactive strategies for building political power;
•Experience working in coalitions and strategic partnerships with national LGBTQ and allied organizations preferred;
•Deep experience in social justice advocacy organizations and movements;
•Demonstrated and deep LGBTQ cultural competency;
•Understanding of federal and state legislative, appropriations, and regulatory processes preferred;
•Knowledge of Asana, Raisers Edge, and/or other program management and customer relationship management databases
•Excellent writing and oral communication skills required, including public speaking before large audiences;
•Experience working in a multi-cultural environment where commitment to diversity based on race, ethnic origin, gender, age, physical ability, faith/spirituality, sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression is an important institutional value;
•Spanish language and/or American Sign Language proficiency, in addition to English, preferred;
