LGBTQI+ rights/ SOGIESC Trans rights Youth
Core Purpose of the Role:
  1. To deliver direct youth work to LGBTQ+ young people through youth group programmes and through individual one to one support
  2. To support the West youth work team with events, projects, and community development activities. 

Principal responsibilities:
Role 1 (East Dunbartonshire)
  1. To plan and facilitate group programmes, projects, and events for and with young people in line with agreed funding outcomes
  2. To deliver one to one support for young people using an asset based coaching approach
  3. To participate in partnership work to create opportunities for LGBTQ+ young people and to maintain a working knowledge other organisation’s services, in order to refer and signpost young people
  4. To record and evaluate the work using the appropriate methods and contribute to funding applications and reports.
  5. To supervise volunteers who support the services
  6. To maintain a working knowledge of our own and other organisation’s services, to refer service users to the most appropriate opportunity
  7. To raise the profile of LGBT Youth Scotland’s work in the area by linking into networks and forums as directed by the Youth Work Manager

Role 2 (Glasgow)
  1. Support the planning and delivery of two weekly youth group that have a positive impact for LGBTQ+ young people.
  2. Provide one to one support to LGBTQ+ young people using an asset based coaching model.
  3. Monitor and evaluate youth work activities and contribute to written reports.
  4. Effectively support and motivate volunteers; supporting them to plan, perform and develop their skills and knowledge.
  5. Raise the profile of LGBT Youth Scotland’s work in the area by promoting our services through relevant networks and forums.
  6. Work within LGBT Youth Scotland’s framework of policies and procedures, particularly in relation to Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Equality,
  7. Diversity & Human Rights.
  8. Develop your practice according to the principles, values and standards in community learning and development.
  9. Contribute to key organisational priorities outlined in LGBT Youth Scotland’s Strategy and other tasks as required
