Key Responsibilities
Management
- Identify and engage with key stakeholders within the women and disability communities, including local women's groups, disability organizations, leaders, and influencers
- Develop comprehensive engagement strategies that prioritize the empowerment and employment of women and persons with disabilities, fostering inclusivity and representation
- Cultivate strong relationships with women and disability community members, local organizations, and support networks, establishing trust and collaboration
- Conduct thorough assessments to understand the specific needs, challenges, and aspirations of women and persons with disabilities within the community, ensuring initiatives are tailored to address their requirements
- Create clear and accessible communication plans that resonate with the target audience, providing information about employment opportunities, skill-building programs, and empowerment initiatives
Professional advisory
- Organize workshops, seminars, and events that are sensitive to the needs of women and persons with disabilities, creating spaces for their active participation, input, and skill enhancement
- Facilitate collaborations between the organization, local partners, and relevant disability advocacy groups, enhancing the potential impact of community-driven initiatives
- Establish feedback mechanisms that allow women and persons with disabilities to share their insights and concerns, ensuring their perspectives guide project development and decision-making
- Advocate for the interests and rights of women and persons with disabilities within the organization and the broader community, highlighting the importance of their economic participation and empowerment
- Address any community-related conflicts or challenges, particularly those affecting women and persons with disabilities, work towards solutions and ensure a positive engagement environment
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity, showing respect for diverse backgrounds and acknowledging the unique experiences of women and persons with disabilities
Knowledge management
- Document successful community engagement practices and approaches that have effectively promoted women's employment and empowerment within the project context
- Identify challenges and lessons learned from past community engagement efforts related to women's employment, document these insights to inform future strategies
- Create detailed case studies showcasing instances where effective community engagement led to im-proved women's employment opportunities and empowerment outcomes
- Develop profiles of target communities, highlighting their unique characteristics, needs, cultural considerations, and successful engagement strategies
- Create toolkits that provide engagement specialists with resources, templates, and guidelines for conducting effective community outreach activities tailored to women's empowerment
- Develop guidelines for gender-sensitive communication to ensure that engagement efforts respect cultural norms and promote inclusivity
- Design workshops or training sessions to share knowledge on effective community engagement techniques specifically relevant to promoting women's employment and empowerment
Qualifications & Experience
- At least bachelor's degree in community development, gender studies, disability studies, social work, or a related field
- At least 3 years of professional experience in community engagement, particularly with a focus on women and persons with disabilities
