Gender-based violence (GBV)
Job Summary:
The Deputy GBV Manager Deputy GBV Program Managers will work closely with GBV Program Managers to support implementation and monitoring GBV program activities, including support and technical trainings far staff and/or local partners.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function with or without reasonable accommodation:
Program Planning:
- Work closely with GBV Coordinator/GBVY Manager, staff teams, local partners, and community stakeholders, as relevant, to plan program interventions.
- Support GBV assessments as required, maximizing available sources of information and opportunities for coordination, and ensuring compliance with safety and ethical standards
- Establish relationships with government focal points, local partners, and women’s networks to reinforce local efforts to promote women’s and girls’ rights and address GBV
- Contribute to concept notes/proposals/appeals as needed.
Implementation and Capacity Building
*Work closely with management and program team to achieve program goals and ensure quality of GBV
prevention and response initiatives
*Monitor the delivery of program interventions
* Identify and build relationships with local partners
* Build capacity of program staff and partners in relevant technical areas to deliver services and lead interventions
* Monitor systems for information management
*Coordinate with partners, government, and community focal points
*Ensure effective community participation throughout implementation, including leadership of women and girls
Coordination, Representation and Advocacy
- Coordinate with other service providers and focal points to establish and strengthen referral pathways
- Participate in relevant coordination meetings
- Coordinate with other sectors as possible to ensure integration of GBV concerns into various services
- Represent program goals and GBV standards
Human Resources Management:
- Support recruitment of program staff
- Support, coach and supervise program staff
- Develop support strategies for staff, foster teambuilding, and support principles of self-care
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Coordinate with local partners and staff, as relevant, for reporting
- Oversee program monitoring
- Contribute to regular program reports, on time and with accurate data
Financial Management
- Develop work plans in line with financial pipelines
- Plan and procure supplies required for program activities, in line with budget and project timelines
- Ensure compliance with donor regulations
Security and Conduct
- Ensure compliance with security protocols and policies
- Consider security implications of all program activities, reviewing initiatives with appropriate stakeholders
- Foster a safe and supportive working environment for all GBV staff and partners
- Exemplify core principles of GBV programming, including respect, non-discrimination, responsible use of power,
Minimum Requirements
- Typically, of secondary schaol, or relevant level of experience required. University study preferred.
- Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
- Typically, 3+ years of related experience
- Demonstrated commitment to core principles of GBV programming, including gender equality and survivor-centered support services.
- Experience with program cycle management
- Familiarity with GBV-related services
- Familiarity with government and NGO service providers preferred.
- Facilitation experience.
- Commitment to supportive supervision
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain flexible, and apply experience and guidance to evolving challenges.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
