We are looking for a full-time person, based out of or willing to move to New Delhi, for the position of Hindi Associate Editor at FII. This position would require you to work with predominantly textual content and lead the daily editorial and growth of FII Hindi

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Work with a small group of writers and interns
  • Editing guest submissions for grammar, spelling, and content, to be published daily in the online magazine.
  • Writing relevant articles weekly with an intersectional feminist understanding for the website.
  • Making sure all articles agree with our intersectional feminist approach and are in tandem with our editorial policy.
  • Sourcing, pitching and identifying story ideas that will create an impact with our audience.
  • Working closely with our writers’ community to create relevant, newsworthy stories, and suggesting fruitful improvements.
  • Conceptualise engaging, powerful and advocacy-driven campaigns to be carried out on social media in tandem with our editorial. 
  • Partnering with other Hindi media platforms to diversify the FII Hindi content. 
  • Growing the FII Hindi audience and the writer’s community. 
  • Write on issues of intersectional feminism and participate in groups, conferences and events as an FII representative.
  • Contribute to other admin tasks and FII’s on-ground events as and when required
  • Weekend, night and holiday work might be required on a case to case basis.


Qualifications
  • A postgraduate degree in journalism, media studies, Hindi literature, or social sciences.
  • Deep and nuanced understanding of Indian intersectional feminist politics.
  • Strong grasp of the Hindi language, with a good ability to edit and give feedback to writers.
  • Working knowledge of the English language.
  • Minimum 3 years of previous editorial experience at an online/media publication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive.
  • Experience with Wordpress backend preferable.
  • Should have experience in Video anchoring.
  • Should be proficient in working on different social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Familiarity with Canva.
  • Awareness of politically correct language across the spectrum of intersectional feminist concerns.
  • A sense of ethical journalism, i.e. what kind of language to use, pictures to feature, especially when writing about sensitive issues.
  • A news junkie who is interested in exploring news angles that the traditional media avoids/ignores.
  • Initiative-taking abilities to pitch new ideas, think outside the box and innovate when it comes to content and content representation.
  • Ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and work well with the team.
