Job Summary 

The post holder will contribute to the scholarship and intellectual life of the Department and LSE by conducting teaching and research which will enhance the School’s reputation as a research-led teaching institution. With appropriate mentoring from the Department, the post holder will help improve our students’ educational experience whilst gaining excellent teaching experience and developing their own research career.  

The post holder will contribute to teaching on the Department’s MSc-level courses with a primary contribution to the delivery of teaching in the MSc Programme on Gender, Peace and Security. They will also teach on the Department’s core courses on gender theories and feminist epistemologies and methodologies and offer other MSc level teaching as deemed appropriate by the Head of Department.

Duties and Responsibilities 
• Delivering high-quality teaching (lectures and seminars) to postgraduate students.
• Identifying the learning needs of students, defining appropriate learning objectives and providing them with appropriate support.
• Preparing, marking and providing feedback on formative and summative work, including coursework, exam papers and dissertations.
• Participating in regular teaching meetings with academic and professional services staff.
• Working closely with professional services staff to ensure the smooth running of all aspects of teaching and assessment.
• Holding regular Advice & Feedback (Office) hours.
• Acting as an academic advisor (mentor) and providing pastoral care.
• Organising and participating in activities to enhance the students’ development of their individual  research projects (dissertations).
• Developing a research programme and publication record - e.g. through publication(s) arising from the PhD or post-doctoral research.
• Participating in development opportunities both at a Departmental and School level (e.g. workshops, training, talks).

Candidates should have:
·       A completed PhD at the time of application in social sciences, humanities or an area otherwise related to the teaching needs of the post.
·       Excellent knowledge of interdisciplinary gender scholarship with expertise in any of the following areas: gender and international politics; gender and international relations, law and policy, gender and militarisation and/or peace and conflict. In addition, knowledge of the following is essential: 
·       Anti-colonial, anti-imperial, and decolonial approaches to Gender Studies 
·       Black feminist and intersectional epistemologies and methodologies 
·       Transnational feminist theories and methodologies
·       A developing research record in interdisciplinary gender studies in the areas of international politics and related areas of feminist approaches to international relations, international law, policy, security and militarization.
