Gender-based violence (GBV)
Programme Management
- Contribute to the design of GBV projects under the guidance of the Protection Coordinator and be responsible for planning and timely implementation of GBV protection activities, ensuring adherence to DRC policies and procedures.
- Ensure that GBV principles and guidelines are known and strictly followed by all GBV staff, and that GBV activities are always implemented in accordance with international standards.
- Take overall responsibility for the rigorous application of project cycle management standards to achieve program quality in design, implementation, and monitoring. This includes strengthening data collection, conducting in-depth reporting and analysis, monitoring accountability initiatives, and documenting the impact of DRC's presence in the field.
Budget Management
- As the budget holder for GBV projects, approve financial and procurement transactions within DRC set guidelines, ceilings, and donor contractual agreements.
- Compile monthly budget forecasts for the GBV project and track budget expenditures to ensure timely utilization of funds in line with work plans and implementation schedules. Adjust budget forecasts when needed.
- Guide the team in preparing procurement plans for GBV project activities and coordinating with logistics personnel.
People Management
- Take overall responsibility for managing GBV staff, ensuring positive and collaborative working relationships in line with DRC's Code of Conduct. Assess staff capacity and provide relevant training or coaching as needed.
- Mentor and supervise a team of staff providing GBV prevention and response services, ensuring quality control.
- Initiate and lead the recruitment of GBV program staff, ensuring that competent personnel are recruited in coordination with the HR department.
Coordination and Representation
- Represent DRC and actively participate in the GBVSS and other meetings relevant to GBV issues.
- Liaise with partners, local authorities, and communities when it serves the program objectives in the area of protection/GBV.
- Work closely with stakeholders in the camps and host community (Child Protection, WASH, FSL, Education, Health, etc.) to mainstream GBV in all sectors and ensure the safe referral and response to protection concerns.
Safety
- Comply with all global and location-specific safety rules, policies, and procedures. Report safety incidents, near-misses and other relevant information to the safety team as shall be briefed during onboarding. Failure to adhere to these will be considered a disciplinary offence while it may also leave you, your colleagues and DRC Bangladesh, at risk.
- Ensure team members’ safety while they perform duties on behalf of the organization. Be proactive and take the highest level of precautions for safety and seek support from the safety team or the SMT if required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
- At least 5 years of working experience with international humanitarian programs and project management, preferably within the Rohingya humanitarian response, within the field of Gender-Based Violence.
- Proven advocacy skills and experience in engaging on protection issues within the humanitarian infrastructure. Knowledge and experience in engaging the sector system or coordination mechanisms in refugee camps.
- Experience conducting GBV trainings and case management trainings for staff.
- Proficiency in using the GBV Information Management System.
- Knowledge of GBV prevention tools and initiatives is an advantage (SASA! Emap, etc.).
