Movement building
The post holder will, among other tasks, ensure ILGA-Europe has strong day-to-day working relationships with key media outlets working on European affairs (in Brussels and at national level) as well as with more specialised LGBTI media; lead in organising profiling activities to enhance the visibility of ILGA-Europe with European-level media and institutional stakeholders; respond to press enquiries and draft press releases; contribute to expanding ILGA-Europe’s social media profile, whenever required working alongside the Social Media Officer to creatively drive new developments and platforms; develop materials to strengthen the capacity of national LGBTI organisations on strategic communication and to support journalists to work on LGBTI issues.

To fit this role well, you should be strongly committed to working for human rights and equality, and have proven competencies and demonstrated experience in:
- Delivering media coverage and raising visibility of an organisation, including through building relationships with key media actors
- Developing clear and accessible content for various communications channels (including traditional media, social media and reports)
- Strong writing skills with an ability to tailor the tone, content and form of written output in line with a range of different audiences and to suit a variety of formats; you must have the ability to simplify information and communicate it in a lively, accurate and understandable manner
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, creatively and to use initiative, and to find innovative ways to respond to emerging organisational needs
- A professional capacity in written and spoken English
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with particular reference to networking, connecting to new people and working with a wide audience.
- Understanding of a wide range of social media platforms, and ability to adapt to new developments in the social media world
- Demonstrable experience in a busy communication setting, covering a range of communications responsibilities, and demonstrated ability to produce high-quality output within a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment
- Ability to plan and work independently, while being a strong and dependable team player; Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a diverse team, to maintain excellent working relationships in a fast-paced environment,
- Ability to work well under pressure, maintaining both a highly organised level of accuracy and output; to plan work to ensure deadlines are met; and to deal with multiple, sometime conflicting, priorities
- Sensitivity to working in a multicultural and diverse environment and commitment to promoting respect for equality and diversity in your everyday work
- Willingness to relocate to Brussels and travel, incl. flexibility with the work schedule (ILGA-Europe staff work from the Brussels office at least 3 days a week).
