Sexual & reproductive rights (SRHR) Health
 DESCRIPTION
Within the Department of Medicine at UCSD, the Center on Gender Equity and Health (GEH) focuses on conducting collaborative, action-oriented research to understand and advance gender equity. GEH is a collective of researchers, policy specialists, and development experts, and our strategy focuses on four areas: equitable social norms and agency; health and reproductive rights; dignity and respect; and economic inclusion and opportunity. Our research is supported by a diverse portfolio of public and private funders, conducted in conjunction with international NGOs, and includes engagement with local and national governments.

Under general direction, the incumbent – a PhD-level researcher (or equivalent work experience and research) in the field of public health, social epidemiology, demography, or a related field – will perform innovative, complex research and evaluation analyses related to family planning and sexual / reproductive health issues in low- and middle-income countries across sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Work will include analysis of large datasets (experience using DHS or PMA data strongly preferred), conducting literature reviews (from exploratory to systematic), and synthesizing results to generate actionable insights for development programming and investments.

The role requires technical understanding of family planning, family planning data and evidence, policy, and contexts in the geographic regions of interest, rooted in a gender-sensitive and agency-oriented lens. The incumbent will have excellent evaluative and analytical experience, strong data visualization and synthesis skills, and an ability to communicate complex results in a clear and compelling story to a variety of audiences. Incumbent must have experience working in fast-paced, collaborative team environments and the ability to produce high-quality products with rapid timelines. Knowledge and skills in one or several of the following are preferred: measurement and monitoring, strategy and consulting, geospatial mapping and modeling, and costing development programs.
